Nationwide has announced the promotion of George Williams as the head of its Small Market Commercial Lines business. Williams, who previously served as the company’s chief operating officer for commercial lines, excess & surplus, and specialty, brings over 20 years of industry experience to the role.

Russ Johnston, Nationwide’s president of Commercial Lines, Excess & Surplus, Specialty, said, “George has a proven background in underwriting, technology, operational excellence and customer focus that will enable us to drive this important business forward for Nationwide.”

Williams joined Nationwide in December 2021 after serving as Head of Global Client Support Services for Guy Carpenter. His previous roles include COO of AIG’s North American General Insurance division, Global Small and Middle Market Enterprises Product Leader for U.S., UK, Southeast Asia and Germany, and General Manager of AIG’s Germany, Austria and Switzerland business portfolio. &
