Case at a Glance:
Vehicle: 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
Activation: Pearland PoliceDepartment Texas
Recovery: Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Oregon
Dealership: Bayway Chevrolet Pearland Texas
Pearland, TX – A stolen 2020 Chevrolet Corvette valued at more than $60,000 was successfully recovered following a multi-state fraud investigation and coordinated law enforcement response involving agencies in Texas and Oregon.
The Corvette was sold through what initially appeared to be a legitimate dealership transaction. After dealership personnel uncovered inconsistencies and determined the sale was fraudulent, the Pearland Police Department was notified and immediately entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), alerting law enforcement agencies nationwide.
The Pearland PD Auto Theft Unit then contacted the LoJack Law Enforcement Liaison team for assistance. Equipped with a dealership-installed LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System from Bayway Chevrolet, the Corvette was quickly activated within the LoJack Law Enforcement (LE) App, a real-time tracking platform designed specifically for law enforcement agencies.
Tracking data revealed the Corvette had traveled more than 1,700 miles and was located in southwest Oregon. The LoJack LE team coordinated directly with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, providing location intelligence and recovery details to deputies on the ground.
Using the real-time tracking information, Jackson County deputies located the stolen Corvette parked beneath an open covered structure. The vehicle was safely recovered without incident and towed for safekeeping as part of the ongoing investigation.
“This recovery demonstrates the importance of rapid reporting, real-time tracking technology, and strong coordination between dealerships and law enforcement agencies,” said a spokesperson familiar with the case. “Because the vehicle was equipped with LoJack and entered into the system quickly, officers were able to track and recover it across multiple states before it disappeared further.”
As vehicle theft schemes increasingly involve fraudulent purchases and organized activity rather than traditional theft methods, cases like this highlight the growing need for advanced recovery technology and interagency collaboration.
What began as a fraudulent dealership transaction in Pearland ultimately ended with the Corvette safely recovered in Oregon—thanks to LoJack technology and the coordinated efforts of law enforcement.
